1962 – Ciara O’Sullivan becomes Rose of Tralee

On the 3rd September 1962 at Ashe Memorial Hall on Denny St, Tralee, Kevin Coffey from the New York Rose of Tralee Committee presented Ciara O’Sullivan from Dublin with the winning Rose of Tralee trophy.

She later described the festival as a “life changing experience that gave me joy, enduring friendships and wonderful memories for which I am forever grateful.”

Ciara later married and had seven children with her husband John.
