24 Finalists announced for Dublin Rose Final 2017

The twenty four young women who will contest the Grand Final of the Dublin Rose of Tralee Festival 2017 have being announced and are shown below. One lucky lady will be chosen to represent Dublin in this year’s International Rose of Tralee festival. The Grand Final itself takes place this coming Saturday, May 27th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. MC on the night will be Marty Morrissey, who is hosting the Dublin Rose Final for the second year in succession.

The finalists were selected by two teams of judges at recent regional selection events in Balbriggan (Bracken Court Hotel) and Stillorgan (Talbot Hotel) from a total entrant pool of forty seven Roses.

Saturday night promises to be a great occasion suitable for all the family. Tickets are 20 Euro and are available on the door on the night. We hope to see you there!

Ailbhe Casey

From Glasnevin, 24 year old Ailbhe is a singer/songwriter and musician. Ailbhe now teaches children aged 4-18 singing, dance & drama in stage schools around Dublin. She studied songwriting in BIMM in Dublin and plays piano, guitar, drums and studied percussion in the Royal Irish Academy of Music for 7 years. Ailbhe told us on stage that she recently returned from travelling South-East Asia where she won her first Muay Thai fight in Thailand. 23 year old Arissa is living in Balbriggan and is currently a masters student in Trinity College studying to become a secondary school teacher. She is a huge fan of the Dublin football team and can be found in The Hill on Sunday’s during the summer months. 27 year old Carla is from Ballinteer and works as a Doctor in Paediatrics. She is a fluent Irish speaker and is very interested in medical research and has worked as a tutor for medical students. Carla hopes to spend time this summer volunteering as a medic in a refugee camp in Greece. Her hobbies include Pilates, CrossFit, surfing and golf and she also enjoys music and painting. 24 year old Catherine is the youngest of seven and comes from a very unique family as she was fostered at the age of six weeks and has been with her family ever since. Catherine is a make up artist in training and has been involved in musicals for the last ten years with both Harold’s Cross Tallaght and Glencullen Dundrum Musical Societies. She is also involved in the runnning of a stageschool in Athy called Shooting Stars. Catherine representing Aoibheanns pink tie charity who are an incredible charity who support families whose children are going through childhood cancer. When asked which her favourite is by our MC John Drummey, Chloe replied saying “although my second name is English, I think I prefer Geography!” Chloe wants to become a secondary school teacher when she finishes college. She has a huge passion for sport, and is a coach to the U8 Boys team in Erin go Bragh. She also works as a waitress in the Cottage on Achill Island. She is sponsored by Littlepace Village.

21 year old Emma is from Blackrock and is studying nursing in UCD. She also works as a hostess in Krystle nightclub. Emma loves golf, dancing, skiing and travelling. She has always wanted a career in healthcare as she was diagnosed with a rare long term illness at the age of 3 called JDM. Having spent most of her childhood attending Temple Street Children’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street, Emma wants to work in a hospital to help other people the way she has been helped and supported growing up. 27 year old Janine was born and raised in Dublin and studied Business and Law in UCD. After graduating, she moved to London, and worked for a charity called The English-Speaking Union, running speech and debate programmes for school and university students across the UK and abroad. Maria is 25 years old and is from Malahide. She is the youngest of three children and is a primary school teacher in St. Vincent de Paul Infant School on Griffith Avenue. Maria is a champion Irish Dancer, having retired last year as a two time World Champion, five time All Ireland Champion and three time Dublin Regional Champion. She has recently set up her own school, the Coughlan School of Ireland Dancing. Maria works voluntarily at the ‘Vincent’s’ shop in the village in aid of the St. Vincent de Paul charity. She recently returned from Washington D.C., where she pursued a Fulbright scholarship at the Catholic University of America and acted as a Cultural Ambassador for Ireland. Nicole Pierce

27 year old Nicole is from Lucan. She qualified as a secondary school teacher of Music in 2013 but has since gone on to study graduate medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons. She is finishing her second year at the moment and loving it. Nicole is a soprano with the professional choir Lassus and performs with her two sisters at weddings and gigs around Ireland. She was elected Vice President of the RCSI Paediatrics Society this year, and is running the VHI Womens Mini Marathon in June in aid of Saving Dylan.
