Before a packed house at Citywest Hotel this evening, 25 year old primary school teacher Lorna Whyte was crowned the 2016 Dublin Rose. Competing against 49 other entrants from across the county, the Malahide native was selected as Dublin’s 2016 Rose of Tralee Ambassador by judges Sinead Boyle, Frank Walsh and Siobheal Nic Eochaidh.

Looking stunning in a floor length halter neck green dress and wearing Tipperary Crystal jewellery, the sports mad 5th class teacher received the news from new Dublin Rose MC Marty Morrissey.

When interviewed immediately after the announcement Lorna thanked all her fellow Dublin Rose “Sisters” and thanked her family and friends for their support.

Lorna will now go on to participate in the International Rose of Tralee festival in Tralee in August.
